Birthday in Baltimore
I spent my 40th Birthday in Baltimore with my boyfriend, Mike. Here are a few pics from the trip.
Las
Vegas Airport's nausea-inducing carpet.
Mike picked me up at the airport, and we drove home to Overlea, the section of Baltimore County where he lives. Here he is with a loaner computer he's using because his home was burglarized the weekend before this visit. Isn't he sexy?
On
Saturday, my 40th birthday, we drove up to Springfield, Pennsylvania,
to visit some friends of Mike, Tim and Joel, who were hosting
a party. Tim is an author of fetish books, and Joel is in the IT industry.
The
snow had been coming down for hours and hours on Saturday. Here's
the lovely scene when we parked in their neighborhood.
The party itself was low-key, with several friendly men, including our hosts themselves.
After the party, we all went to dinner, and Mike bought me a lovely birthday cake: chocolate with a decadent chocolate buttercream frosting!
Tim
and Joel had a lovely collection of Art Deco decoration, including
this ironic sign.
We
did have to get back to Maryland, though, and decided to brave
the storm. I drove almost the entire way back, but I was getting
tired, and Mike relieve me with about 20 miles to go.
The next morning we went out to get some grocery shopping
done, and saw just how much it had snowed all night.![]()
I used to live in Virginia and it would sometimes snow in the Winter, but this reminded me of my trip to Denver for Thanksgiving 2004. The snow in Denver didn't stay on the ground for more than a day or two, but it was still snowy in Baltimore even when I left on Tuesday.
Mike
sure does look sexy in his white trash suit!
Sunday, we pretty much stayed in and kept warm. We watched "Dark Water" starring Jennifer Connoly
On Monday, we made a couple of trips out of the house: groceries, Home Depot, stuff like that there. He wanted to get some rubber feet for the couch so it wouldn't slip around on the hardwood floors, and I wanted to get some carpet tape to affix the area rugs.
That
night, I made supper for us, Broccoli Beef in hoisin sauce
and sticky rice. After I got the dishes cleared away, we listened
to some music and spent more time together. We also moved his
new mattress set upstairs and inaugrated the new bed.
Eventually, though, Tuesday morning rolled around, and we had to get me to the airport for my flight back to San Francisco, and to get Mike to work.
Mike
sure does look dashing in his work drag. He got me to the airport
with plenty of time to spare, and we had a sad farewell, sharing
a tender moment in the cab of the truck, not wanting the weekend
to end.
