I have two wedding invitations for the same day in October. One is from a man I have known since the late 1980s at the ’58 Fury days – he was the keyboardist of this band for whom I was the main support staff. He’s a real estate mogul in Sacramento now. For about a year, I also rented a room from him in 1995.
The other is from a massage client who has transitioned to being a friend, and would be my first gay wedding, not including the commitment ceremonies that I have officiated pre-Supreme Court. This one would have more of my gay and bear friends attending, and would also afford me the opportunity to do some networking for my massage practice. It’s not meant to be cynical, but just pragmatic. I still have need to build up my practice.
I know I would have a good time at either event. What I don’t know is which one to choose.
