Yesterday started out pretty good, if a bit tentative. I woke up really early, got out of bed, checked messages, then went and had a morning nap on my sofa in the front room until it was time to wake back up to get to the Kabuki Springs for my 10am massage appointment. I lucked out last night and was able to get an appointment with Chris, that hot Aussie massage therapist who seems to just love climbing all over me while he works. I’m not complaining at all, as he’s a pretty good therapist.
After soaking and napping in the communal bath room, I left there at 12:30, had lunch at some Chinese place over near there, and rode the 22-Filmore back home, where I promptly slept for another few hours. I got to my office at around 16:45, and discovered that the janitor had moved my laundry delivery into my room. That was pretty nifty of them, as they usually just leave it outside my door for me to find.
Sheets put away, I decided to test out my wi-fi antenna that Plumpy fixed for me a few days ago. It’s a hi-gain antenna and helps me pick up some of the few open wi-fi routers in the building. I’d get DSL for the office, but the most basic business package starts at $100, and that’s way beyond my budget. I suppose I should seek out one of the owners of one of the routers and offer to pay a little bit to them to access it. Well, I can decide on that later.
My 18:00 client showed up a couple of minutes late, but we ended up having a good session. He brought his own CD to use – it was Goldfrapp’s Felt Mountain, which I had never heard before, and now I have to go out and purchase it, and figure out how to add it into my massage playlists. Very bizarre but oddly relaxing music.
After he left pretty blissed out, I headed down to the ‘stro to deposit money, eat supper, and hear
BoyShapedBox performing at 7 Day Load, the new Thursday night event at Mom Daddy’s 440 Castro.
While I was there waiting for his set to start, this hot guy hit on me – he even remembered my name from when we met back in September at the Hairrison margarita booth. I suppose that red wrestling singlet has something to do with it. Nothing like getting hit on by a sexy young man to boost the ego and lift one’s spirits.
But back to the music. I wish I had taken the time to see him before this – his mash-ups and mixing style are really fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. If you get the chance to hear him do his thing, I strongly suggest you do it. I had a wonderful time!
Simultaneously, I met
bunnykitteh and a few other LJers tonight – apparently, a bunch of LJers get together at 440 on the last Thursday of the month for cocktails and merriment. Who knew? That was a fun gathering, even if I only stayed on the periphery of it.
Finally, though, the long day started to catch up with me and I walked home. This is the second day this week I walked from the ‘stro to UGH, and I wasn’t winded at all. I guess all that time on the treadmill is paying off!
Thank you to everyone who commented their kind thoughts and wishes – as one commenter said, just venting it helped me process it – and encouraged me to take some concrete actions to help lift me from that funk. I don’t have to sit on the pity pot any longer than I make myself do it.
I can’t say that I feel all the way better yet, but getting out of the house and doing stuff certainly helped.
