Tuesday’s Adventure

by Paul Brown on 3 April 2008

Monday evening’s client and I didn’t really click. I don’t know why, but for some reason I felt nervous about working on this little tiny person. After the session, I went to work out with Duke, but was only able to do cardio. During the weights, I suddenly felt an overwhelming sadness about Jason, who, to catch you all up, arrived in town this past weekend to start his new life as a gay man. So I had to stop lifting and get up and onto the treadmills where I was able to disguise the tears as sweat. From there, Duke and I went to his place, and I slept.

Tuesday morning, I felt better. Perhaps the release of the tears was a big help. Maybe it was the fact that Jason called me up to let me know that he had arrived into town Saturday night safely and that he had joined the gym. Whatever the reason, I went down to The Cove for breakfast, and invited him to join me. He was trying to find the MuscleMax store for some protein bars, and I told him I knew where it was, so after I finished eating, we met at BearBears and walked together up to Noe and Market, and he purchased his stuff.

It turned into a day of playing guide a bit. He needed to get a fast pass, so we walked to Church station and hopped on Muni to Van Ness, where the SFMTA Customer Service Center is located, and both bought fast passes. Next, we rode to Powell station, and I showed him my office. From there we headed up to Union Square and did some window shopping and letting him get used to walking around town.

Finally, though, I had to go to work, so we walked back to the subway and boarded a train. I got off at Van Ness and instructed him to continue to Castro. Walked home, showered, checked messages, dressed in work clothes, and headed back downtown to meet my clients.
