I’m headed to Jackson, Wyoming this morning. Be back Wednesday!

Democracy in Action
In New Zealand, the police have created a wiki to allow the public to edit the proposed new New Zealand Police Act. What a curious and amazing idea. I am very interested in learning how it turns out.
Mark Fiore’s War for Profit
Another amazing animated commentary by political cartoonist, Mark Fiore.
It’s Lame Being Lame
I had a client booked for tonight, but I absentmindedly forgot to send him the G-vite from my google calendar, so he didn’t show up. It’s just as well. When I called him, he said that he would have had to cancel anyway, so it’s just as well. I’ll rebook with him when I get back from Wyoming.
Since I was suddenly free, I traipsed down to the Eureka Valley Rec Center for Midnight Squares’ Advanced Club Night, with
Gary (squaredancing) calling. I almost made it through the whole evening, but my ankle started to act up, and I had to actually walk out of a square mid-tip. There was no one to replace me, as the extra three dancers had left early. So, they made it through to the end of that tip with a phantom dancer, which is something not really “legal” at Advanced. Not that I particularly care about legalities in square dancing.
It was a fun evening, even after I was limping up to
Big John in SF (bigjohnsf)’s van at 18th and Douglass.
Ligaments take longer to heal, ligaments take longer to heal, ligaments take longer to heal.
Tomorrow, I’m going to go to the Kabuki Springs for a soak, and maybe another half-session of massage. This time, I’ll make the therapist work only on my legs.
The Old and The New
What’s That Word?
I had this idea for a new game we could play – it’s sort of based on the NPR radio quiz, “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me.” In this game, we well make up definitions to “words” I find in spam messages. I think it could be very amusing…
define permafro.
Question: Is this anything? (Thanks, David Letterman)
Barbara, Please!
Bored with all things internet. Saturday, get here already! There’s a sweet boy in Wyoming waiting for me! ARRRGH!
So, I tried watching my very first episode of Heroes tonight. Somebody please save me from its allure.
Business Hours
Sometimes I set myself up for failure. I had this client with whom I was seeing weekly. Because of his job situation, he could only make an appointment at 9am on Fridays, which was two hours earlier than my business hours, but because it was a weekly situation, I figured I could live with it.
UGH. Those early morning appointments were starting to look more like a burden than anything else, and with almost always having a late evening appointment the night before, I would be dragging ass in the mornings instead of being my normal chipper self. So, I was naughty and canceled a couple of them, which upset him, understandably, and he responded by firing me. This all made me sad because I really enjoyed working with him.
We did discuss this together a couple of weeks later, how I thought I could do an early morning appointment like that, and how things got to be more burdensome than fun, and he mentioned to me that with his new job, he could do an afternoon appointment instead. This brightened up my day considerably, and we talked about how much we enjoyed working together, etc. So, I booked an afternoon appointment with him for this week, and we’re going resume our weekly sessions.
Maybe I’m not such a failure after all, but I do need to be more realistic about when I want to work and defend my boundaries more.
