My client Thursday had a hip surgery last April to remove some torn up cartilage in her acetabulum, the socket of the hip’s ball and socket joint. Well, that didn’t really solve much, so her new doctor did an MRI recently and found something that he thought looked like calcification in one of the muscles up front near the AIIS. He didn’t really know what it was, but as soon as she told me that, I thought, trigger point. Turns out I was right. It looks like we are on the road getting to the bottom of her hip pain issue after all!
From that happy session, I headed over to my square dance class, and was doing pretty well, even having missed the previous class. I should break out the book more, though, and read the definitions.
Next up was the Eagle for the IBR Welcome Party. What a life-affirming experience to be surrounded by hundreds of hot men, and just how many of them I know in one form or another. The bands were incredible, especially The Girls with Kaleidoscope Eyes. This was the grrrl’s best performance ever! I was so utterly blown away with their rendition of the Abbey Road “side two” medley. Heck, it was all good. I left the Eagle feeling ecstatic and full of the feeling that my life is wonderful and is unfolding nicely. I walked home and was in bed at 03:30.
Friday found me waking up and getting over to Emeryville and school in time for the big bodywork test. After the previous night’s experience, I felt completely centered and ready to take this exam. This feeling extended throughout the test, and I scored 66 out of 66 points! 100%!!! Woo-hoo! I was excited by that, even though I know that do this stuff all the time, it was nice to get that feedback from an instructor who I really respect.
After the test, I took a shower there at school, put on my lucky green silk polo sweater, and headed over to the Metreon. But first, I made my first trek to Beard Papa and bought a vanilla and chocolate cream puff to celebrate my examination. They are a hella over-rated, if you ask me. That filling was way too liquid for my liking, and the shell was disappointing, too. Feh
Anyway, I met my Kabuki buddy, Bill, at the ticket counter, and facing the long line, decided to use the kiosk instead. We opted for the 19:00 showing of “Babel,” which I had heard many good things about. He had mentioned that he wanted seats in the back of the theater, and there they were: last row center, which turned out to be the perfect location for watching this powerful film. I felt like I was being beaten with baseball bats during some of the scenes, so intense was the impact of this film. Literally, I felt like I was going to vomit a few times because of its emotional drubbing.
We left the movie theater, and headed over to Osha Thai, this incredibly trendy place full of the Beautiful People. I ordered green curry with pork, and he had spicy eggplant with chicken. The waiter was peculiar. When he arrived to our table (after having seen us put our menus down), he didn’t say a word, just looked imperiously at us, demanding our order with his bearing. We gave him our order and he repeated it back to us, then left at our confirmation. No greeting, no anything. Yet, the service was impeccable – he kept our water glasses full, took each plate away as it was emptied, and otherwise left us alone. Practically a perfect waiter. Bill didn’t like his silent manner, but I thought it was pretty much perfect – attentive but unobtrusive.
From there, I walked him to his place, which is two blocks from the ballpark. I hopped a cab and jetted over to 7th and Market, where Frank-baby picked me up and we made a quick mini-tour of the hotel, then he dropped me off while he went back to the hotel for more schmoozing. Sleep came quickly and deeply, and I woke up feeling really great.
