Things are really moving forward!

I ended up not going to The 15 Association play party last night, which proved to be the best thing. After Friday’s big emotional release during the bodywork class, and yesterday’s clients, I figured that I should just rest last night, so that’s exactly what I did.

Today, I had a client this morning at 11:00: upward and downward scapular rotator muscles for two hours, followed by some Jin Shin work on some meridian points, and finished off with holding KI-3 and KI-1. My client commented that I have gotten really good at finding the tsubo points, which brings me to the point. I’ve noticed that my thumbs and fingertips are so much more sensitive now – far beyond what they were at this time last year. It’s as if my brain has developed so many more synapses for the signals they receive from them.

The energy work I have been doing lately – the Shiatsu, Jin Shin Do, and Reiki – has been just over-the-top effective. I can find the points on the meridians so much better than ever before, and make the energy move around. I put my fingers on the place and either feel a “buzzing” sensation or it feels like I have stuck my finger into a spongy hole. In the first case, there is either fairly normal flow of energy, or too much. In the second, there’s a deficiency. I don’t really know how to explain it in any other terms that makes sense to my inner scientist.

But even more than that. I can palpate even tinier structures now. Having “The Trigger Point Manuals” and their description of trigger points and the “taut band” that accompanies them suddenly burst like fireworks in my brain, and I have been finding trigger points in clients in all sorts of places I hadn’t ever before, all because of how I changed my palpatory technique due to information in the books.

There’s a burning fire of passion for my work that the past few weeks has only stoked. Tomorrow I go to apply for a lease on an office space that I found on craigslist. An amazing office in a great location on Market Street! When the woman showed it to me on Friday, I immediately knew that if I didn’t try to get this space, I would be wasting a great opportunity. It’s a reasonable price in a beautifully managed building in a fantastic location. I’ll have windows that will open up on to the interior courtyard of this flatiron-shaped building. It’s right around the corner from the Apple store, across the street from the Four Seasons, and a block from Yerba Buena Gardens and the Metreon. I am having a hard time imagining a better location right now! Life is good!

Shine on, O ruddy moon, upon his face
Whilst all the while upon his lips do grace
And o’er the world a loving shadow cast
My hungry mouth, while wheeling dizzy stars
Doth dance lightly tickling his swollen mast
Of wine-dark fruit, a blessed harvest ours.

Joint Mobilization

Last Friday at school, we were supposed to have “Stress Management” class, which is an accupressure class of some sort, but instead we had “Joint Mobilization.” My back was not too bad, so I decided to go in to school and at the very least observe the work if not participate.

When I got there, one of the women asked if I would work with here for that class session, and I agreed. We watched the demonstration, then we partnered up and got to work. I went through moving just about every synovial joint (the freely moveable joints) through its range of motion on her. She was really zoned out by the end.

She worked on me next, and at first I thought it was going to be terrible, because the toe joints were really tender. But when she got to my hips, wow, I had this huge emotional release. One of my lumbar vertebrae had popped back into place, and a loud moan escaped my lips. When she got up to my shoulders, I was laughing and crying at the same time, so intense were the feelings of having been opened up. I could barely get up off the table, but when I did, I felt free of pain for the first time in weeks. I was light-headed and giddy and bouncy.

It hasn’t totally lasted, but my shoulders do feel a whole lot better, and my back, while still a little sore, feels better, too.

Too Much Pain

Ever since two Thursdays ago, I have had a considerable amount of back pain, although it has come and gone. Right now, it’s here in full force. I feel pretty overwhelmed right now.

On Making the Shit List, or Damnable Idiotic Pornographer…

Remember back in 2004-5 I did some work for The Porno Client? He’s this guy down in LA who I did some programming for on his web sites. Well, it seems he had some hair-brained scheme to send email to all of the people who had put a profile on his sites, asking them to try him out again.

Problem is that he made an alias email address that sends a message out to the entire list. If anyone sends a message to the list, it is sent out to all the members. You can imagine the inevitable result.

How many emails I have received? I have no idea, but he is so on my shit-list right now. And I don’t even have a shit-list! I’ll have to start one up just for him.

More IBR

Saturday night, I was at Young Frankenstein at the Castro Theatre with Jim. Who’s Jim, you may be wondering? He’s this guy I met back before Fiesta. I don’t think it would be right to say that he’s my boyfriend, but we certainly have been seeing a lot of each other lately. So, let’s just say that he’s my friend.

Hanging with us was Ben, who in face is the funny Miss Visa DeCline, as well as Wyatt, a gentleman from Los Angeles. Jim has some interested friends.

Peaches Christ was fierce, and Heklina was silly-good. The Friday the 13th scene Heklina played out was hysterical.

During the movie, though, Jim rested his head on my shoulder and slept a little bit. I rested my head on his head and fell asleep, too, right after the big unveiling scene, waking up just in time for Madeleine Kahn’s “I put a hamper in the bathroom just for your shirts, and another for socks and poo-poo undies.” That about covers all the best parts of the film.

Sunday was my big work day, with two back-to-back two hour sessions. After that, I was ravenously hungry, so I made some chicken thighs and veggies in a peanut curry sauce, then headed down to the Eagle to meet Jim and others. While there, I got to meet Jim’s best friend, Andy, and a few others. He was going over to the Play T-dance to see Ben perform, so I went with him.

We didn’t stay long, though. The place was a little bit overwhelming for him, and for me, the music was really terrible. The DJ just wasn’t very good to my ear, although all the boys over on DancingBearsSF seemed to love it. So, I thought I’d give him another chance and downloaded his set from Sanctuary on 21 January 2007. It’s better than what I heard last night, but I am not quite convinced yet. Maybe he was having a bad night? Or maybe I was…

So, Jim and I left not long after having been there, and he dropped me off at UGH. I came home, checked messages, and crashed out early.

Overall, a very good weekend. That’s my IBR report.
