AIDS/Lifecycle

I registered for the AIDS/Lifecycle recently.  The physical challenge of the ride is something I have been looking forward to for a long time now.

The money I raise goes to help people living with HIV/AIDS.  Donate today and help in the fight against AIDS.

Bears in the Citi

How do you all feel about the new site, Bearciti?  Does that weird ad for EventPlannerPro creep any of you out?  Does the EPP website creep anyone out?  What about that the site doesn’t work right with the latest version of Firefox?  Any other thoughts?

I did put an ad on the site, but I don’t know if I like the site enough to keep it.

Mine Tastes Like Purple

I usually take the same walking route to and from Civic Center BART:
East on Fell,
North on Octavia,
East on Hayes,
North on Gough,
East on Grove to the station.

I know I could just walk to Laguna to Grove to the station but that would be boring. My route passes me by the park on Octavia, where I’ll often see strange and wondrous sights. Sometimes, I’ll walk other routes, too. I might have to go to the Walgreen’s, for instance, or one of the shops on Hayes Street.

This other night, I was in Walgreen’s picking up a couple of things and I saw this hot rough trade flirting with the nubile young cashier, and she was lapping up the attention. Meanwhile, a bleach blonde with inch long black roots, a faux-fur trimmed jacket, a peasant skirt and horizontally striped tights entered the place, startling the rough trade. Uh-oh, I thought to myself, she’s his old lady and doesn’t look happy.  I made my purchases as she was leaving the store, and I started walking up the street behind her.  For some reason I can’t fathom, when I caught up to her, I asked her if she had seen the new candy store that recently opened on Octavia parallel to the park.

She hadn’t, but then she asked me what my favorite candy was.  “Jolly Rancher Apple,” I told her, “Yours?”

We had this fun conversation about candy as we walked up the street.  I had this feeling she really wanted to say something more, but she never did.  When we inevitably parted company, she asked me to make sure I bought something fun at that new candy store.

Scarborough Fair

Wow, is everyone on my Friendslist using their crock pot today?  I took a small bag of small Yukon gold potatoes and halved or quartered them, coarsely chopped some onion, a stalk of celery, three or four carrots and placed them in the crock pot.  I seasoned the four-pound boneless pork shoulder with sea salt and fresh pepper, olive oil and a little balsamic vinegar, and placed it atop the veggies.  I finely chopped up some fresh parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme and added that to the pot, too, then with two cups of water, I put the lid on the pot and set it on high.

Oh, how the smell of those herbs filled the air of the house.  I spent the rest of the day doing laundry and working on The Foghorn, the newsletter of Foggy City Dancers.  Then when the Sunday Dinner gang showed up – tonight being albadgerAlbadger, progbearMike (progbear), along with the denizens of UGH, dhpbearPlumpylumps (dhpbear), bigjohnsfBig John in SF (bigjohnsf), and myself – we feasted on the roast and root vegetables, a salad, and a fresh loaf of Italian bread.  For dessert, we had a coconut cake I bought last night, as well.

So tasty, but I’m totally full now – full but not bloated out.  It’s a great day…

check it off the list

I got to the Lone Star right at 3pm and went upstairs and set up my massage chair up.  Right off the bat, the host of the bust, came up and asked me if I’d give him a little bit of work, so I put him on the chair and worked on him for a few minutes.

After that, there’d be a few minutes between men.  Uncle Harry announced my name a few times during the bust, and I got to work on around 6 or 7 men.  It was a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Once it was done, I went to Safeway and did a big round of grocery shopping.  There were things I hadn’t had in a while, like Fig Newtons, and they happened to be on sale, too, so I picked up some.  I’m making a pork shoulder roast in the slow-cooker tomorrow, and bought some tiny red potatoes, onions, and fresh herbs.  Tomorrow is going to be yummy…

Now, if only I could sleep.
