Scabies on a Plane

by Paul Brown on 19 August 2006

I know I haven’t written much lately. School and work have been really kicking my ass. And last night, while at the Bears on a Plane after party for the new Snakes on a Plane movie, I could feel a tickle in my throat. This morning, I woke up with a fully burning throat, and a flood of mucous from my nose. Great, just what I need what with two now-cancelled massage appointments today. Sheesh!

Things with Darwin have been progressing well, though. I have been spending weekends there with him, except this weekend I’ll be avoiding doing that unless I experience a miraculous healing. Everyone channel your brainwaves and body’s energy to my health, please?

I did my MFT practice test tutorial on Thursday evening. Since I was a Lazy Bear, I missed the practice and actual tests, but fortunately, I won’t be docked a grade because I cleared it with them ahead of time. The tutor had some excellent suggestions, not on my bodywork, which is professional, of course, but on my preparing the strategy for the test. This test is really about preparing a strategy, and a measure of how well you communicate on the client’s level, as well as technically with the instructor.

In other news, on Tuesday I went to the County Free Clinic to figure out why I’ve been itching so badly. It seems to have been an infestation of scabies. Fortunately, a treatment with Premethrin cream did the trick, as well as washing all of my clothes and vacuuming my bed and other surfaces. I have heard that there’s an epidemic of scabies in San Francisco at the moment, so if you are itching and have small red bumps in the folds of your body, get it checked out. It’s easily treated but highly contagious. One does not have to have sexual contact with another infected person to catch tthem. I have no idea how I got them, except that I know it wasn’t from sex…

I have more to write, but I have exhausted my store of energy at the moment. Bed awaits.
