Juana Davis, or How I Learned to Go with the Flow

Friday: I did a massage, then headed to the Metreon with the movie bears to see X-Men 3. After the movie, bigjohnsfBig John in SF (bigjohnsf), albadgerAlbadger, hardybearPeter (hardybear), and I went to Mel’s Drive-In on Mission for a late supper. Riding the 71-Noriega home, I think my phone fell out of my pocket, but I didn’t realize it at the time.

The Stolen Child : A Novel

Saturday: another massge client, then I attended my first The 15 Association party. This is part of my developing interest in dominance and submission eroticism. On my walk over to the party, I realized that I didn’t have my phone on me and debated walking back to fetch it, but figured it’d be there when I got home, and continued to the party. I went feeling confident and figured I’d probably have a good time, but instead the group pretty much ignored me and I left after two hours, somewhat discouraged. As I was leaving, two guys were trying to get in, but the cashier had already been closed, and they were turned away. As it happened, it was they guy who had been renting part of the garage here at UGH as a play space, so he offered me a lift when I told him that I was going to walk over to the Lone Star.

Cantalope Sorbet

I bought a couple of cantalopes the other day, and halved them scooped out the seeds, peeled them, pureed them, added some honey, sea salt, a few drops of peppermint extract, and a little sugar, put the whole mixture into the ice cream maker, and cranked it until set. Yummy sorbet!

Memorial Day 2006

I am a veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1988 to 1993. I went to boot camp in San Diego, and attended Data Processing Technician “A” School there, too, before going to my first duty assignment, the USS Enterprise (CVN 65). I served on the Enterprise for three years, part of that time (September 1989 - March 1990) was spent on a six month world cruise, starting in Alameda, California, and traveling to to Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Brazil, U.S. Virgin Islands, Ft. Lauderdale, and ending up in Norfolk, Virginia. Soon after the cruise, the Enterprise entered the Newport News Shipyard for a five year overhaul. I spent a year in the shipyard, then transferred to Naval Intelligence Command, but my honesty about my pre-Navy drug use (I smoked pot and took LSD) on the Special Background Investigation forms prevented me from getting the necessary security clearance, so I had to find another position, which I did at SUBLANT (the commander of the submarine forces for the Atlantic), but while there on an interim basis, an investigation into my sexuality started, so I they decided they didn’t want me after all, and I transferred to CINCLANT (Commander in Chief, Atlantic). The investigation ended a week before the end of my enlistment in 1993, where they found no evidence of wrong-doing, which left me free to re-enlist if I wanted. I was honorably discharged on September 11, 1993. During my service, I received the Navy Achievement Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, the Navy “E”, Sea Service ribbon and the first Persian Gulf War commendation ribbon that all service members serving during that conflict received. When I was discharged, I was a Petty Officer Second Class, which is the same rank as a Sergeant in the Army, Marines, and Staff Sergeant in the Air Force.

I don’t have any great deep thoughts on this Memorial Day, except for hopes for the safety and homecoming of our armed forces around the world, and a call to action for all people to pressure our elected representatives to bring them home.

X-Men 3: The Last Stand - spoilers behind the cut…

Last night’s SFMovieBears gathering of 167 bears to see the latest in the 20th Century Fox’s and Marvel Entertainment’s mutant franchise was quite an event. I was truly amazed at how we filled more than half of the seats in the theater auditorium at AMC’s Metreon. So many hot men in attendance. Thanks, dhbearguyDave (dhbearguy) for yet another fun-filled event!

A movie and dinner
are not enough foreplay

chocolate-sauced promises cannot deliver
piquant caresses and savory moans belie the truth

Sex after anything less
Would be whore play

A little song, a little dance, and lots of bears down my pants.

though fucking and sucking
make good for some whoreplay

well, if you made the dinner
and ate it looking into my eyes

Episode 04 - Steep Sections of Caught Imperial Rolls

Go For The Burn

Had lunch with a young man I met off b411 yesterday. We met at Muddy Waters on Church near Market for a cup of coffee, then crossed the street to Red Jade for a quick bite of lunch. From there, I suggested we walk around for a while, as it was a simply stunning day, so we trekked north on Church to Hermann and headed east to Duboce Park for a stroll up the path there. It seemed like a good idea, so we walked up Duboce to Buena Vista Park. OK, maybe I could have figured out a slightly less steep path to the base of the park, or maybe I was feeling like I had to show this guy who’s 15 years younger than me that I could walk up the hill even as bulky as I am. Of course, he had no trouble at all, being a pole vaulter on the local gay track team and all, but I was huffing and puffing up the hill. Mind, it’s a pretty darned steep climb up from Duboce Park. Once at the park, we climbed the stairs and started walking around, past the tennis courts and up, through the cypress and pine and redwoods and other beautiful greenery. The sun peeked around the clouds, dappling the path.

Once we got to the top of the hill, the view was pretty darned spectacular, the sun warm, the breeze cool. The stroll back down was much easier and comfortable. We walked all the way back over to UGH and sat upon the stoop, and ended with a nice long hug. What a sweet man.
Today, I’m going to take another long walk like that. A little progress every day.

Such an exciting life I’m leading these days…

After my massage client, I showered and headed to Civic Center BART to MacArthur BART to meet my buddy, Kelly <b411 user=highgranite>, for some catching up and shopping. He just returned from a two week rafting trip of the San Juan river and some property hunting up in Southern Oregon. We hit up Rubio’s in Bay St. Mall for their fish tacos, then walked next door to IKEA, where we schlepped along the arrowed path. It’s always so dreary and exhausting, but I did pick up some candles and plants and a few other small things, but that gorgeous wool area rug I carried around in the cart with me was just a bit too pricey, so I didn’t buy it, although I might next time. Sometimes restraint is a good thing :)

After IKEA, Kelly gave me a couple of small presents from the trip: a stack of seven stones that include all of the various layers of rock the San Juan river descends, and a couple of petroglyph decals.

Back across the bridge, and we got here to UGH, where Kelly checked his messages, then he headed out to the Lone Star, while I stayed home and looking at some catalogs, then headed to sleep.

Shoulder-A-Go-Go

Lots of stuff to say, where to begin. Well, let’s see, this past Saturday I attended Rich Reel’s Newer Caller Workshop at the Quaker Meeting House here in Frank-baby. That was an eye-opening experience, to be sure, and I was just about the worst prospective caller there, except for my singing call, where I totally ruled. So, I’m going to keep practicing.

Sunday, I had a client, some work for the porno client (yes, I got convinced to work for him again), then ran off with ednixonFrank-baby (ednixon) to the Marin Headlands to shoot some video of the Golden Gate Bridge - so we set up a tripod and aimed the camera at the bridge for about 45 minutes. dhpbearPlumpylumps (dhpbear) took the footage and burned an endless loop DVD of it for Frank to use on this low power TV station he set up in Coalinga. After a month of the bridge, they are going to move the station to Santa Cruz and try to sell it to some broadcaster. While on the headlands, I found a pair of Steve Madden sunglasses on the ground.

Monday I had a massage client, more porno client work, and bigjohnsfBig John in SF (bigjohnsf), ednixonFrank-baby (ednixon) and I took a drive down to Palo Alto Fry’s, where I picked up a new case for my PC. The full-size tower case was just too big and clunky, so I got this sleek little black and silver mid-size tower for Beaujolais, my XP box. In a fortuitous coincidence, Frank had a cast-off video card from Sue-Ellen, a Radeon 9200 things with 128MB of RAM, with which I put my old Radeon 7200 to rest.

Tuesday morning I went to Emeryville to NHI to sign my Federal Student Loan documents. June 1st, I’ll be a student again. I rode BART to MacArthur, hopped the Emery-Go-Round to Hollis and 59th, which is exactly where the school is located, so it’s a sweet, short commute. The program is ten months long and at the end I’ll be able to take my NCBMTB national certification exam. Most states that regulate massage therapy at the state level recognize this credential for their licensing requirements, for the ones that do not, I will have more than enough training regardless to practice there. All this means is that I do not have to be stuck in San Francisco or Sacramento (or the other counties/cities in California) where the amount of training I have is legal.

When I arrived back home to UGH, I dismantled my computer and put it into the new case, and reveled in the new look and quiet, and returned Plumpy’s power supply to him that he had lent me when mine died last week.

John and I went to Foggy City Dancer’s Club Night, where Neil Heather was calling. We had a fun evening and I was dancing with hardybearPeter (hardybear) when Neil called a Dive Thru. The call has two couples facing each other and the couple to the center of the square makes an arch and the outer couple passes under, then the arching couple does a California Twirl, where the “girl” passes under the arm of the “boy,” ending with them facing the opposite direction from their original position. During this call the tendon that attaches my right deltoid to my humerus decided that then would be a good time to resist that motion, and with a loud yelp I clutched my right shoulder and left the square mid-tip in terrible pain.

I went outside and bawled for a couple of minutes, trying to get the muscle to loosen back up, reaching under the deltoid with my fingers and lifting it off the shoulder, massaging it with my left hand. Gerry and someone else came out to see if I was alright, we all went back in to the hall, he made me an ice pack, and I sat icing my shoulder for a few minutes. One of the actions of the deltoid is abduction of the shoulder, that is, lifting the arm out and away from the body laterally. The pain occurs in the medial belly of the deltoids three bellies, and shoots down to the tendinous attachment at the humerus.

A group of us went to Firewood in the Castro, which has re-implemented their 20% off Tuesdays. I ordered the 4 sides with dolmas, red peppers stuffed with goat cheese, roasted beets, and a roasted head of garlic with some bread, and a lemonade. The pain was subsiding and I enjoyed the company of Neil, Greg H., bigjohnsfBig John in SF (bigjohnsf), markosfmarkosf, hardybearPeter (hardybear), sfbearhoneyEd (sfbearhoney), and Rusty J.

Eventually, everyone wandered off to their various destination, and I came home and slept. This morning, the shoulder feels better, but I’ll be careful with it over the course of the day.
