Sugar On My Tongue

by Paul Brown on 28 July 2005

After a not terribly productive day of work for the Porno Client™, it was time to get out of UGH and among the people, so I sauntered on down to the Castro Starbuck’s, where I had a couple of Iced Green Teas. Yummy. While I was walking down there, I saw these two hot bears walking ahead of me, so I very slightly lengthened my stride and caught up to them at Market and 17th crosswalk, where we all waited for the light. Oddly, even though I was standing so near behind them, and was certainly in their peripheral vision, and his handsome guest from Chicago didn’t see me. So, I walked a few steps behind them and enjoyed the view. Kevin has a very sexy way of wiggling his butt when he walks. Once we were all at Starbuck’s, I said hello to Kevin at the cash register, then placed my order. Iced green tea is really fantastic. Not too much caffeine, but just enough to place me in that subtle “tea brain” that eastern monks use as a meditation aid.

The three of us chatted about pizza and men and the weather, then they were headed up the hill for their evening plans. I hung out chatting with some of the regulars, had a brief chat with and his guest, , then walked over to Magnet and signed up for chair massage, then came back to Starbuck’s to wait for my appointment with Joseph, the massage therapist that day. He worked my traps, levators, and rhomboids over really nicely.

After the massage, I went back down to Starbuck’s, and feeling peckish, called to see what he was doing for dinner. He was having dinner with , so I called Urso and chatted for a bit. He invited me to dinner, but I thought that John thought it was just for the two of them, since he hadn’t invited me to join them, so I “vagued out” and headed to that Thai place a few doors down from Starbuck’s. In a happy coincidence, a man I had been making eye contact with was dining alone there, as well as the woman who had received a massage at Magnet right before me. She thought the guy was too rough, whereas I was pretty blissed out by his deep work. I was seated at a table for four, facing the window, where I could look at Russell, the handsome gentleman with whom I had been exchanging glances all afternoon. It’s funny, because every time I looked at him, he was either already looking at me, or looked at me. He has a shy smile and a firm handshake, which I discovered when I approached him and introduced myself. I gave him my phone number and asked him to call, then sat back down, as my entree arrived. He came over to my table and asked what I had ordered, so I told him about Tod Mun (fried fish cakes), Tom Sum (green papaya salad), and Praram Long Srong (chicken, basil, and other greens in a darkly spicy peanut sauce). He went on his merry way with a smile on his face. Mine, too, for that matter.

After that, I walked back home, listening to the “romance” playlist on my iPod – John Coltrane, Jimmy Scott, Ella Fitzgerald, J.C. Chasez, Sarah Vaughn, Mark Weigle, and Oscar Petersen. A pleasant ending to a very pleasant day.
