fiesta de los osos, part five

by Paul Brown on 21 January 2004

i just finished up a massage with a client, and just now realized that i hadn’t yet finished telling my tale of fiesta. time to rectify that.

after the pie ceremony and walk back to the hotel, i was really flying on the rush of having put on a successful show. i had a smile that just wouldn’t stop. i really needed to dance or something to burn this energy off. of course, i was pretty beat from having not gotten much sleep, but even with that, i was very pleased.

So, standing by poolside with Jeff, I was wondering where Bob was. Jeff was wondering, too, so I offered to try to find him. I wandered around the hotel, then headed up to their room, knocked, and no answer. Back downstairs to let Jeff know that i hadn’t been able to find him, then went to sit down near the hot tub, and was chatting up Bear, who had brought his Shar Pei puppies to the run this year – they were so adorable in their rhinocerean wrinkles, when I felt a pair of hands on my shoulders. Only one person has hands like that, so incredibly strong, I knew right away that it was Bob.

I looked up and he bent his face down to mine, and I asked him if we could have some private time. We headed up to their room and had some serious cuddling and conversation. About an hour later, Jeff joined us and the three of us talked about what the future holds for us. I’m very excited by the prospect of getting to know them better.

Monday morning rolled around and it was time to start getting ready to go. Bob and Jeff were packing up their stuff, and I went to get my table and supplies from Albadger’s room. Much confusion and hilarity ensued as I tried to find Albadger and others. I spent most of the morning saying goodbye to people – Bob and Jeff were the most difficult to say good-bye to, even though Jeff is now in San Francisco at a symposium, but Bob is in Albuquerque. I miss them, but I’ll get to see Jeff soon. Hooray!

Albadger and I made it to the airport, where he turned in the rental car while I checked in my table and supply bag. I think I may have to get a smaller table for travel, or maybe a massage chair. I want to get a chair anyway, though.

picked me up at the airport, freeing Albadger from having to drive me into the city. We got home, and had some Chinese food that he had ordered ahead of time.

It’s nice being home, but I do miss my time in Tucson, and the wonderful men who are my friends and family. I have a suspicion that some trips to Denver and Tucson are in my near future.
