questions, questions, always questions

thanks for the questions.

1. where do you see massage therapy taking you?

i think massage therapy is already taking me to some interesting places. i’m meeting some wonderful people, people who need healing and touch. everyone deserves to be touched and shown some care. massage is one way to help heal the world, one person at a time. i’m going down a road of service – my entire life’s philosophy is based around the idea that we all need to love and serve each other. jesus washed the feet of his disciples – can we do otherwise?

i don’t know where i’m going to end up, but i’m going there on my own terms, and i am happier than i’ve been in years – broke but happy.

2. now that you’re leaving programming behind, do you think you’ll ever find enjoyment in it once it’s no longer a “work” function?

it’s funny, but i am enjoying my work on http://www.trashfilmorgy.com/ and http://www.bearfinder.com/, but the idea of having to it for a living again makes my skin crawl.

3. why don’t you have your webcam up anymore?

now that’s an interesting story: when i moved to san francisco, back in 1997, i set up a webcam in my bedroom at Upper Gryphon House (UGH) on fell street, where , , and john’s partner, john, and i lived for a time (they still live there). after i got my dsl installed, and www.paulbrown.net registered, i kept the cam updating every few seconds or so, 24 hours a day. for about six months, i even slept with the lights on. everything i did in that room was captured and broadcast out to the world. as a result, i got tons of email from people all over the world; people were tuning in around 0530 every morning when me and my morning woody would get re-acquainted. as you can imagine, some of the emails were pretty salacious and tawdry, scary even. one guy in particular started telling me about how he always wanted to live in san francisco and how he wanted to meet me. he told me his life story via email – truly, he sounded like an interesting bloke.

my surprise when he actually moved to san francisco and wanted to meet was great. was this guy some kind of stalker? well, i’m a big guy, i figured i could handle whatever would come of it. we went out a few times, but he was one of the most boring people i could imagine. he had all these interests, but seemingly no passion. he rarely got excited about anything. i broke it off with him.

when i moved to the castro to the love forest at casa sanchez, my personal bearcave, i kept the cam on, but it was no longer in my bedroom, and some of the magic and cachet of having a cam was gone, so after a while i stopped updating it. but it was fun while it lasted.

4. tell me about your ultimate travel dream, where would you go?

take a look at my tattoo. http://www.tawdrytalk.com/ and click on the “tawdry photos!” link. so far, it’s a bear sleeping under a spruce tree. my great travel dream is to explore the great forests of the world – to walk bare under their branches, sleeping in the sun, and swimming in their waters. great cities and such hold their own charm, and i enjoy them for what they are, but i’m most at home where the green trees grow. it’s one of the reasons i live in downtown sacramento – it’s an urban forest, plus, it’s close to the sierra nevadas.

5. if you woke up in the woods one morning and your butt was sore, would
you tell anyone?

you’re funny.

5b. wanna go camping?

fuck, yeah, man! let’s go!
