ah, the joy of the nooner.
I have this standing biweekly lunch date with my coworker (distant coworker) Chris. After the last lunch we had, it was pretty clear that we would be diving for tonsils soon.
We met down in the lobby for our usual lunch date. It was my turn to pick the restaurant. For past lunches, we would alternate the decision of where to go to lunch. We walked to the car, and Chris remarked that we could do anything – fast food, whatever. I had another idea in mind.
We drove around aimlessly for about fifteen minutes, until we came to the entrance to a state park entrance. I looked at him, and thought about the churning in my sack, and made a quick right turn into the park. His smile in return let me know that I had made the right choice.
The park is a lakeside campground and beach. It’s an oak woodland with soft grasses and wildflowers, moss-covered rock outcroppings and cool lake water. I drove us around the park for a suitable bit of privacy and parked the ole Chrysler.
Had I made the right choice? There was a moment of awkward silence before we started talking about how nice it was here, blah blah blah blah.
“Are we going to make out or what?” I asked him. “I hope so,” he replied. Which suddenly found us in that rush towards each other’s lips.
It should be noted at this point that the gentleman within me (and work constraints) prevent me from continuing this monograph, but it should suffice to say, that a fine time was had by all.
